Mister Yoop's Cave

A great barred cavern in the wall of a narrow mountain canyon where the giant Mister Yoop is kept caged behind iron bars, and past which Dorothy, Ojo, the Scarecrow and Scraps must run to continue their journey.
First named in The Patchwork Girl of Oz, ch. 20
In one of the rock walls--that at their left--was hollowed a great cavern, in front of which was a row of thick iron bars, the tops and bottoms being firmly fixed in the solid rock.

Reached by climbing from the Tottenhots' desert into the mountains of the South Country on the way to the Horner Country (ch.19-21); a different place from Yoop Castle, the giant's former home in the Gillikin Country.

With this the Giant pushed his big arms, which looked like tree-trunks (except that tree-trunks don't wear pink velvet) between the iron bars, and the arms were so long that they touched the opposite wall of the rock passage.
