This site is a set of static pages. It collects nothing about you.

No tracking of any kind

There are no analytics on this site. There is no advertising, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts, and no social media embeds. No cookies are set, and nothing is stored in your browser.

You are not asked to create an account, because there is no account to create. Nothing on these pages sends anything anywhere.

The search box

There is one script on this site, and it does one thing: the search box in the header. It is served from this domain, and the index it searches — the names of everything in the reference — is a single file downloaded from this domain the first time you type in the box.

The searching happens inside your browser. What you type is never sent anywhere, not to us and not to anyone else, because there is nothing on the other end to send it to: these are static pages with no server behind them to receive a query. Nothing you type is recorded, and nothing about your search is kept after you leave the page.

Every page here works without that script. If you block JavaScript, the search box does not appear at all, and the indexes linked in the header list everything the search box would have found.

What the host sees

The pages are served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, it processes the technical information a browser has to send in order to receive a page — your IP address, the page requested, the time, and the browser's user-agent string — and keeps it briefly for security and to keep the service running. That is handled by Cloudflare rather than by this site, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Nothing from those logs is used to build a profile of you, and nothing is passed on, sold, or combined with anything else.

Email

If you write to the address on the contact page, we hold your message and your email address for as long as it takes to answer you and to keep a record of any correction you sent. Nothing else is done with it, and it goes on no list.

Links out

Some pages link to other sites — Project Gutenberg and the Internet Archive, among others. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site, under someone else's policy.

Children

There is nothing here to sign up for and nothing collected from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this ever stops being true — if analytics or anything else is added — this page will say so before it happens, and the date below will change.
